Introduction to Pottery

Ready to get your hands in the clay? This beginner-friendly class is your introduction to the pottery wheel and is designed for those who have never thrown pottery before.

With guidance from your instructor, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming, and glazing as you work through your first project—a small bowl. You’ll follow along with the instructor step-by-step while learning how to work with the clay, find your rhythm on the wheel, and begin developing the skills you’ll need to continue your pottery journey.

All supplies are included.

Your first time at the wheel is about learning, experimenting, and getting comfortable with the clay. Every piece is different, and your finished bowl may not look exactly the way you imagined—and that’s okay! The goal is to learn the process, have fun, and build the foundation for your next step.

GOOD TO KNOW
• Dress for the mess—wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
• Pottery must dry completely and be fired before pickup, so you’ll return to the studio for your finished piece.
• Practice discounts are available for follow-up visits.
